UK-Malaysia-China Partnership

Overview

Funded under the British Council's Going Global Partnerships programme (2025–2027), this project establishes a tri-country collaboration between the University of Leeds (United Kingdom), Universiti Putra Malaysia (Malaysia), and Jiangsu University (China) to advance research and capacity building in child and adolescent nutrition, food systems, and the prevention of the double burden of malnutrition.

Building on partnerships developed through the Cheney Fellowship and the UK–SEA Child and Adolescent Nutrition (UK–SEA ChAN) Network, the project expands cross-regional collaboration to include China, strengthening a broader international platform for research, policy engagement, and knowledge exchange.

Why It Matters

Nutrition challenges such as the double burden of malnutrition are increasingly shaped by complex and interconnected food systems that extend across national and regional boundaries. This project enables cross-country learning and collaboration, supporting the generation of evidence and strategies that are both globally informed and locally relevant.
